The Emerald Cut
The most popular of the step cuts; emerald cuts are polished from elongated rough diamonds into rectangular shapes with beveled corners. These diamonds are reminiscent of reflecting pools and allow the viewer to see straight through the stone. Because of the shape’s design, higher clarity diamonds are generally recommended for step cut diamonds, such as the emerald.
Step cut diamonds have long, narrow, four-sided facets in rows parallel to the outline of the diamond. Used long before the brilliant cut was discovered, these sleek lines produce a subtle gleam and give step cut diamonds a quiet elegance with a vintage feel.
